R.E.A.C.H. Internship & Other Internships/Leadership Opportunities through Student Life & Leadership!

HI PHA members!!!

There’s a complete list of internships on campus through Student Life and Leadership that really focus on some of the issues that public health deals with every day. For example, the Alternative Break Internship gives you the freedom to explore whatever topics you choose to and to create two trips (one for winter break and one for spring break), and you can cater it to your interests. Perhaps, you want to lead a trip that does service work for kids with mental disabilities….

And the R.E.A.C.H. course applications are also available that will teach you how to become an effective peer facilitator for the various identities such as race, class, gender, etc. The course allows you to have conversations on these important topics that will also build your leadership skills, as well as empower you to find your voice within the educational system and prepare you in your future as a public health professional. I especially recommend this course if you are interested in looking at different perspectives and understanding how one’s identity is formed. I believe health professionals would benefit greatly if these concepts were more incorporated into training for dealing with  diverse people and situations.

So there are many options available to students, and it’s important to use your public health classroom info to further influence the direction UCI students and those you come into contact with take….
